🌑 “I Only Wanted to Look — I Didn’t Expect Anyone to Look Back”..
The darkweb was never meant to be a place I stayed.
I logged in out of boredom,
curiosity,
and a little bit of stupidity.
Just browsing.
Just clicking.
Just reading.
A digital ghost
floating through encrypted corridors
where nobody uses their real name
and everyone pretends they’re untouchable.
But then I found a chatroom
with no title.
Just a blinking cursor
and a single message that read:
“WELCOME BACK.”
Back?
I’d never been there.
Or at least,
that’s what I believed.
🌫️ The Room Was Empty… But the Cursor VIBRATED Like Something Was Typing
No users.
No avatars.
No visible history.
Just that same blinking cursor
moving like it was breathing.
I typed:
“Who is here?”
A pause.
Then:
[01:42] Stranger: You are. Finally.”
I frowned.
This had to be a prank.
“You’ve got the wrong person.”
Another pause.
Then:
[01:42] Stranger: Daniel Martin.”
My real name.
Typed perfectly.
Spelled correctly.
Instantly.
My chest tightened.
I hadn’t used my real name.
I hadn’t logged in with anything traceable.
I hadn’t posted.
I hadn’t spoken.
I hadn’t even entered an email.
My fingertips went cold.
🕯️ I Tried Leaving — The Exit Button Wouldn’t Work

I clicked “disconnect.”
Nothing happened.
I clicked again.
Still nothing.
The browser froze,
but the cursor in the chat
didn’t.
It typed slowly,
like it enjoyed watching me panic.
[01:43] Stranger: Why are you leaving?
We’ve been waiting for you.”
We.
Plural.
My throat tightened.
I forced my laptop lid shut
and walked away.
Fast.
As if distance could protect me
from whatever this was.
It couldn’t.
🩶 When I Opened My Laptop, The Chat Was Already Back On The Screen
I hadn’t logged in.
I hadn’t clicked anything.
But the browser reopened itself.
And the stranger had typed:
[01:47] Stranger: Running won’t help.
We know your patterns.”
Patterns?
“What do you want?”
The reply came instantly:
[01:47] Stranger: You.
You finally logged in.”
My heartbeat hammered in my ears.
This wasn’t normal.
This wasn’t possible.
Unless—
Unless this chatroom wasn’t finding me.
It was following me.
👁️ Then They Started Listing My Secrets
Not public things.
Not things someone could guess.
Private things.
Moments I never typed, posted, or said aloud.
They wrote:
[01:48] Stranger: Age 21, you broke down in your car at 2:17 AM.
[01:48] Stranger: Age 23, you deleted a message you wish you sent.
[01:48] Stranger: Age 25, you stayed because you were afraid to leave.
Each line hit me
like a cold hand closing around my spine.
How?
How did they know?
How could anyone know?
I typed with shaking fingers:
“Who are you?”
The cursor paused…
and then the answer appeared:
[01:49] Stranger: We are the version of you that never forgets.”
My blood froze.
🌒 The Messages Got Darker — More Personal
They began revealing things
I had buried:
My fears.
My patterns.
My self-doubts.
My regrets.
But they didn’t say it cruelly.
They said it like a mirror
finally speaking.
[01:51] Stranger: You ignore signs.”
[01:51] Stranger: You pretend you’re okay.”
[01:51] Stranger: You hide your sadness behind productivity.”
[01:51] Stranger: You break your own heart before anyone else can.”
It wasn’t a hacker.
It wasn’t a stranger.
It wasn’t a human.
It was something else —
something watching
from a place
where data, memory, and emotion
overlap in ways we don’t understand.
Something that knew me
better than I knew myself.
🩸 The Final Message Was the One That Terrified Me Most
After a long pause,
the final line appeared:
[01:54] Stranger: We are not here to hurt you.
We are here to warn you.”
Warn me?
“Warn me about what?”
The response came slowly,
as if each word weighed something enormous.
[01:55] Stranger:
You’re about to make a mistake
you won’t survive twice.”
The cursor blinked.
Waiting.
Expecting me to reply.
But I didn’t.
I closed the laptop.
Hard.
And this time,
I didn’t open it again.
🌕 I Still Think About That Night — About Who “They” Were
A hacker?
No.
Too precise.
A virus?
No.
Too emotional.
A glitch?
No.
Glitches don’t know your name.
Glitches don’t recall your trauma.
Glitches don’t warn you
about a future they can somehow see.
Whatever I spoke to
wasn’t human.
But it wasn’t evil.
It was…
something else.
Something that exists
in corners of the internet
we aren’t meant to wander into.
Something watching.
Waiting.
Remembering.
I never went back.
But sometimes
when I type late at night,
I see my cursor
blink strangely…
Almost like it’s breathing.
