I woke up because the lies got louder.
The lies I told myself.
The lies others fed me.
The lies I accepted
just to feel safe,
accepted,
liked,
or loved.
Lies like:
• “You’re too sensitive.”
• “You’re overreacting.”
• “You should be grateful.”
• “This is just how life is.”
• “It’s your fault.”
• “They didn’t mean it.”
• “Love looks like sacrifice.”
• “Enduring pain is loyalty.”
I believed them—
not because they were true,
but because they were familiar.
And familiarity feels like truth
when you hear it long enough.
But something shifts
when the lies stop comforting you
and start suffocating you.
Something rises
when the stories you were taught
stop matching the person you’re becoming.
Something breaks
when you realize the world didn’t hurt you—
the narratives did.

It’s the moment you see the lies clearly.

The lies that made you feel unworthy.
The lies that kept you small,

and scared.
The day the lies stopped working

I stopped accepting half-love.
I stopped tolerating disrespect.
I stopped apologizing for my truth.
I stopped betraying myself
just to keep connections alive.
And the most powerful shift of all?
