🌑 “For So Long, I Wanted To Be Seen — But Not By Myself”..
There was a time I put so much effort
into being liked, admired, respected, approved of.
I wanted certain people
to see me, choose me, appreciate me.
I adjusted myself.
Polished myself.
Performed versions of me
I thought they would find appealing.
The irony?
The people I tried so hard to impress
didn’t even know my heart.
Not because it wasn’t visible—
but because I kept showing them everything except the real parts.
💔 I Was Performing a Version of Myself I Thought Was “Good Enough”
I hid:
✨ my depth
✨ my softness
✨ my sensitivity
✨ my insecurities
✨ my creativity
✨ my real dreams
✨ my real pain
✨ my real self
I thought if I made myself likable enough,
easy enough,
interesting enough,
perfect enough—
then maybe they’d finally value me.
But you can’t be known
while wearing armor.
And you can’t be loved
while wearing a mask.
🌙 The Hard Truth: They Weren’t Seeing Me — They Were Seeing the Illusion I Created
I kept thinking:
“Why can’t they understand me?”
“Why can’t they appreciate me?”
“Why can’t they see my heart?”
But how could they see my heart
when I never showed it?
How could they appreciate my depth
when I hid it to seem “normal”?
How could they connect to my truth
when I only offered curated fragments?
They didn’t know me.
Not truly.
Not deeply.
They only knew the version I performed
to earn their approval.
🌫️ Now I Understand: It Wasn’t Their Fault — It Was My Pattern
They didn’t know my inner world
because I never shared it.
They didn’t understand my emotional depth
because I pretended to be “fine.”
They didn’t feel my love
because I expressed it in silence.
They didn’t see my vulnerability
because I hid it behind strength.
They didn’t know my heart
because I built walls disguised as “independence.”
This wasn’t their failure.
This was my fear.
🌱 I Was Trying to Impress People Who Didn’t Even Have the Emotional Capacity to Understand Me
I was chasing validation from people who:
✨ preferred surface-level versions of everyone
✨ were intimidated by emotional depth
✨ didn’t know how to engage with vulnerability
✨ valued aesthetics over authenticity
✨ weren’t self-aware enough to see nuance
✨ were disconnected from their own hearts
I wanted to be seen by people
who didn’t even know how to see themselves.
How could they have seen me?
🕊️ I Don’t Blame Them Anymore — Because I Understand Myself Now
I don’t blame them for not understanding me.
I don’t blame them for not hearing my silence.
I don’t blame them for not feeling my depth.
I don’t blame them for not recognizing my heart.
They couldn’t meet me
at a level of emotional intimacy
they didn’t have access to.
And I couldn’t meet them honestly
because I was too busy trying to be perfect.
No one was wrong.
We just weren’t aligned.
🌈 Now I Show My Heart Only Where It Will Be Held — Not Misunderstood
I no longer perform.
I no longer chase.
I no longer shrink.
I no longer mask my truth.
Now I give my heart to people who:
✨ communicate openly
✨ value emotional depth
✨ appreciate authenticity
✨ reciprocate effort
✨ create safe spaces for honesty
✨ don’t get scared when things get real
✨ see me without needing a performance
These people don’t need to be impressed.
They need to be met.
And being met feels better than being admired.
🌟 I’m Finally Learning How to Be Known — Fully, Quietly, Authentically
I don’t need the people I once tried to impress
to understand me now.
And I don’t resent them for not seeing me then.
They only saw what I showed.
And I only showed what I thought was acceptable.
But today?
I show my heart
exactly as it is.
To fewer people—
but better people.
