🌑 “Some Versions of Yourself Don’t Die Easily”..
There was a version of me
that I carried for years —
a version built from survival,
not truth.
She wasn’t bad.
She wasn’t broken.
She was just… desperate to survive a world
that didn’t know how to hold her gently.
She learned to stay small.
She learned to stay quiet.
She learned to accept less.
She learned to be “easy,”
“low-maintenance,”
“unbothered,”
“fine.”
She learned to endure instead of express.
To tolerate instead of choose.
To carry pain instead of release it.
That version of me didn’t live —
she coped.
And the hardest part about healing
was realizing I couldn’t become my future self
while dragging her behind me.
I had to let her die.
💔 She Was My Shadow — Familiar, But Heavy
The version I had to kill
was the one who:
✨ apologized for existing
✨ said “it’s okay” when it wasn’t
✨ sat in rooms where her soul felt unwelcome
✨ begged for love that should’ve been given freely
✨ stayed loyal to people who weren’t loyal to her
✨ kept wounds quiet to avoid being “too much”
✨ tried to earn her worth by overgiving
✨ believed that suffering meant strength
She wasn’t weak —
she was exhausted.
She wasn’t emotionless —
she was scared to feel.
She wasn’t heartless —
she was protecting a heart
that had been disappointed too many times.
I outgrew her long before I let her go…
but I held on because she felt familiar.
But survival versions aren’t meant for long-term living.
🗡️ The Moment I Realized She Had to Go
There wasn’t a dramatic breakdown.
There wasn’t a final heartbreak.
No betrayal.
No explosion.
It was quieter than that.
One day, I asked myself:
✨ “Why am I fighting so hard for a life that doesn’t feel like mine?” ✨
And the truth hit hard —
Everything I was protecting
was based on who I used to be,
not who I was becoming.
Staying loyal to old habits
was killing my future.
So I made a decision.
Not loud,
not angry,
not desperate.
A calm, final decision:
“She’s not coming with me.”
🔥 Killing the Old Me Wasn’t Cruel — It Was Sacred
I didn’t kill her with force.
I killed her with truth.
By telling myself:
✨ I am allowed to want more
✨ I am allowed to say no
✨ I am allowed to take up space
✨ I am allowed to change
✨ I am allowed to become someone new
✨ I am allowed to stop performing
✨ I am allowed to choose myself
She didn’t disappear in a moment.
She faded as I grew.
Every boundary I set,
every truth I spoke,
every time I chose peace over patterns —
she died a little more.
Not painfully.
Not violently.
She simply dissolved
as I stepped into someone
I always had the potential to be.
🌱 The Version That Replaced Her Wasn’t “New” — It Was Real
Now?
✨ I don’t tolerate chaos just because I’m used to it
✨ I don’t chase people who treat my heart carelessly
✨ I don’t explain myself endlessly
✨ I don’t apologize for having needs
✨ I don’t shrink to fit
✨ I don’t silence truth to keep peace
✨ I don’t carry pain that isn’t mine
✨ I don’t die on battles that don’t belong to me
The new version of me
isn’t colder.
She’s clearer.
She’s not harder.
She’s healthier.
She’s not detached.
She’s discerning.
She’s not emotionless.
She’s finally honest.
🌈 You Don’t Become Yourself By Adding — You Become Yourself By Releasing
And that’s the secret people don’t talk about:
Becoming yourself
isn’t a process of gaining —
it’s a process of letting go.
Letting go of versions of you
built from pain.
Fear.
Survival.
Loneliness.
Trauma.
Childhood wounds.
Learned silence.
Forced strength.
Sometimes the most life-changing transformation
comes from the death of who you were
before you knew better.
And if you’re in that transition —
I promise you:
You’re not becoming someone new.
You’re returning to who you were always meant to be.
