“Every light is a story refusing to die”.

No one remembered when the sun went out.
It didn’t happen in a single night.
It faded slowly — swallowed by smoke, silence, and forgetfulness.
The stars dimmed next.
The oceans froze.
And one by one, people forgot what warmth even meant.
In that endless twilight, there lived an old man in a crumbling tower —
the last keeper of a single flame.
The world called him mad.
“Why guard a candle,” they laughed, “when the darkness has already won?”
But the old man only smiled — the kind of smile that belonged to someone who had seen too much and still believed anyway.
He would sit by the flickering light, whispering to it softly,
as though speaking to a child.
Each night, he told it stories.
Stories of rivers that once sang, of lovers who once danced under golden skies, of laughter that rolled like thunder across the mountains.
And as he spoke, the flame swayed — growing brighter, warmer, almost alive.
The candle wasn’t just wax and fire.
It was memory.
Every story he told became part of its glow — a small rebellion against the silence that tried to erase everything.
He had made himself a promise long ago:
“As long as one story remains, humanity still exists.”
And so he guarded it — not just from the cold, but from forgetfulness.
One winter night, a traveler stumbled into the tower — a young woman covered in frost, lost and trembling.
She stared at the candle in awe. “I thought light was only a myth,” she whispered.
The old man chuckled softly. “No, child. Light never dies. People just stop looking for it.”
He handed her the candle.
Her hands shook. “What if I drop it?”
“Then,” he said, “you’ll learn to build it again — from your own flame.”
By dawn, the old man was gone.
Only ashes remained where he once sat, a peaceful smile on his face.
But the candle still burned — held tightly in the girl’s hands.
And as she walked into the wasteland, her steps left trails of gold in the snow.
She whispered the stories he had told her — and the flame grew.
One light became two.
Two became twenty.
And soon, the horizon began to shimmer again — with candles carried by those who remembered.

✨ Reflection:
The Keeper of the Candle reminds us that light isn’t just brightness — it’s memory, love, and the courage to remember when others forget.
In every act of kindness, in every story told, in every heart that refuses to go dark —
his candle still burns.
Because the end of light was never the end of hope.
It was only the beginning of those brave enough
to carry the flame forward.
